UKRAINIAN NATIONAL HOME

More than a building -a home for generations

About Us

History

Built around 1830, our building at 140–142 Second Avenue has lived many lives — from elegant townhouses to a German YMCA, to the legendary Stuyvesant Casino, a hotspot for jazz and colorful East Village history.

Since the 1970s, it has been home to the Ukrainian National Home — a cultural space rooted in heritage, community, and resilience.

Where Dumka found a Home

Over the decades, the building has echoed with many voices — none more powerful than those of the renowned Ukrainian chorus Dumka, who have performed here and brought tradition to life on this very stage.
